About Us

Yoga is many things to many people. It is fitness, it is health, it is relaxation, it is transformation, it is the opening of new possibilities, and it is community. At The Yoga Place, our goal is to guide students to greater self-awareness, focus, and health through our full spectrum of yoga programs.

When you walk through our doors you will not only find all styles and levels of yoga, but also a warm and welcoming community of students, staff and teachers because of our compassion, a sense of adventure, and a reverence for what each individual can accomplish throughout his or her lives.  We take particular pride in our programs for beginning Yoga students, children, athletes, seniors, and people in need of rehabilitation with our specialize approach in safe, compassionate, and skillful instruction.

The Yoga Place has created diversity and open programs to embrace all types of yoga, pilates, belly dancing, musical concerts, and more. We are continuously improving and expanding our offerings to serve the needs of our student population and to accommodate the creativity of our superb instructors.

Our History
The founder of The Yoga Place is Michael Curtis.  Mike is not an aspired businessperson or a trendsetter; he primarily is a student, instructor, and practitioner.  Mike believes in the power of yoga and its ability to change lives.

Mike saw an opportunity to bring together many styles of yoga under one open and flowing environment – The Yoga Place –  while upholding the traditions of yoga with integrity, quality, authenticity, and accessibility to all.

Mike and his staff believe in the passing of knowledge from teacher to student, to attune to the needs and challenges of the individual, and to providing a curriculum of comprehensive programming.

Mission Statement
The Yoga Place mission is to provide and to sustain a supportive environment in which a community can safely explore the mountains and valleys of spirituality and personal growth.

Vision
At The Yoga Place, the below three texts will help you to understand not only our vision but also our practice. Yoga’s three foundational descriptions of yoga in ancient texts are:

1.      Skillfulness in action: the ability to act dynamically in ways that reliably produce more life force or thriving

2.      Equilibrium: the capacity to sustain mental focus, confront unconscious habits, and tolerate the consequences of being ourselves

3.      The cessation of the modifications of the mind: allows us to see life as it is without fear, fantasy, or distortion
