More about Reiki:
Reiki is a holistic, natural, hands-on energy healing system that reaches all levels: body, mind, and spirit. It is a natural way to balance energy, reduce stress and promote health and healing.
Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) comes from the Japanese terms "rei" meaning universal, or higher consciousness, and "ki," meaning life energy.
The Reiki practitioner is attuned to the universal life energy and serves as a conduit during a session.
People receiving Reiki energy can experience several effects: deep relaxation, an opening of blockages, detoxification and new vitality.
During a treatment, a Reiki practitioner channels energy in a particular pattern to heal and harmonize. Reiki seeks to restore order to the body whose vital energy has become unbalanced and is beneficial to everyone - from those who are ill to those who are wanting to improve their over all well-being.

A Brief History of Reiki:
Reiki is at least 2,500 years old and was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the mid 1800's. Dr. Usui's student, Chujiro Hayashi, ran a Reiki clinic in Tokyo for many years. Mrs. Hayayo Takata, who learned Reiki from Mr. Hayashi, after being treated at his clinic, brought Reiki to the Western world in l938. Mrs. Takata trained 22 individuals to become Reiki Masters and teachers before her death in l980. Through the teachings of Dr. Usui, Mr. Hayashi and Mrs. Takata, there are now more than 2 million Reiki practitioners in the world today.
