Following these helpful hints will allow everyone to have a more enjoyable yoga experience.
¨ Please make an effort to arrive at least a few minutes before the start of class. If you arrive during the opening seated meditation, please wait in the lobby until movement begins.
¨ Please sign the attendance sheet prior to class.
¨ If you need to leave class early, please notify the teacher, allow yourself five minutes for relaxation and leave before final relaxation begins so as not to disturb the class.
¨ Shoes are never worn in the studio. Please leave your shoes in the shoe rack or in the lobby.
¨ Please turn off your cell phone or pager to avoid distractions.
¨ Try not to eat a meal too close to your practice, we recommend 2 – 3 hours prior to class.
¨ Dress comfortably in clothing that will move with you. We practice in bare feet.
¨ Hygiene is a traditional part of yoga practice and shows respect for yourself and for others. For the comfort of those around you, please come clean, avoid smoking before class and avoid wearing heavy perfumes.
¨ Never force yourself into any posture. No posture is worth injury. Take your time and build your practice slowly. Keep ambition out of your yoga practice and only advance when it is agreeable to the body. There is no progress without safety.
¨ Notify the teacher of any serious health conditions such as neck, back or joint injuries, heart disease, high blood pressure, recent surgery and/or pregnancy before class begins. If you experience pain during class let the teacher know immediately.
¨ Avoid full inversions during menstruation. Your teacher can offer modifications.
¨ Sticky mats are available for your use, but for hygienic reasons we recommend bringing your own. We sell several types of quality mats.
To make the most of your yoga practice, bring an open mind and stay in the present moment. The rewards will carry over into your daily life in many forms, such as more integration, balance and harmony.
¨ It is no big deal, but, if you can lock your car without beeping the horn, that is preferred. Thank you for your consideration.
