Join us for a classical Yoga-Ashram style retreat designed to help you re-discover the sacred silence within, and to connect profoundly with your authentic Self. Bring bedding to stay overnight at Yoga Central, or commute from home. Our silent retreats focus on the wisdom teachings of Yoga, and Yogic practices to help you both experience and sustain inner connection and awareness. This retreat is offered on a donation-only basis, and is open to all seekers of all traditions.
Swami Sankarananda is a monk of the Sivananda order, a teacher of Yoga, and a pilgrim for peace. He walked a pilgrimage for 2.5 years, including coast to coast in 2014. He shares an ancient knowledge of Yoga, and how to lift ourselves from fear to achieve our fullest potential.

Kirtan Concert with Girish - Fri, Sept 27
Girish, an accomplished musician of many genres, former monk immersed in spiritual practice, loving wordsmith linking lyrics and rhythm in a blissful musical event, sings traditional Sanskrit mantras with a modern, funky, yet deeply devotional twist. Accompanied by his amazing band, Girish invites his audience to participate by singing along, call and response chanting, and dancing. Girish has been recommended by “The Guardian,” “O, The Oprah Magazine,” “Yoga Journal,” “Spirituality and Health Magazine,” and more. Girish's original music catalog of seven albums is popular in yoga studios and music festivals all over the world, and his book, “Music and Mantras” (Atria/Enliven/Simon and Schuster) continues his work to teach the art of meditation through music, to the world.

This is a truly magical and incredible musical and yoga experience that allows you to go deeper into your practice and your body.
Annual Peace Walk - Sat, Oct 5
Our annual Peace Walk is a community event that is FREE to all. You can participate in the whole event or just parts, as you like. We have a gentle yoga class as a warm up at 9 am. The Peace Walk is at 10 am, and at 11:00 am we will have a short presentation and a guest speaker from 11:00 to 11:20. This is not a protest or a demonstration, but a joyful activity. Sometimes we call it the Gandhi Walk in honor of Mahatma Gandhi whose birthday is early in Oct. Gandhi eschewed vehicular transportation when he could and walking was his preferred means of transportation. You are welcome to just come and walk for no reason other than to have a good time in good company. A few of us pick up trash along the route. Some pet owners bring their dogs. Rain or shine.

Yin Yoga: Grounding Down for Autumn - Sun, Oct 13
Join Lana for a 90-minute Yin Yoga workshop focusing on the Metal element. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the fall season is associated with the Lungs, and the archetype of the Alchemist. We will explore shapes and philosophy that relate to, and nourish, these parts. Our time together will include Yin Yoga āsana, prānāyāma, and chant. If you’re new to this style of practice, Yin Yoga involves holding poses for 2-5 minutes, close to the earth, often with the support of props.

Menstrual Cycle Mysteries with Paisley - Fri, Oct 18
Humans are cyclical beings, and our bodies emulate the cycles of nature - birth, life, death, and the seasons. While the male sex hormones mirror the solar cycle (similar every day), female sex hormones mirror the lunar cycle (varying throughout each month). Humans are also approximately 75% water, and just as the moon's gravitational pull creates tides, the moon cycle effects humans as it changes throughout the month.
No matter what “parts” or hormones you have, please join Paisley Devi to learn more about the female hormonal cycle. Everybody loves someone who bleeds, even if you yourself do not bleed each month for one reason or another. This workshop will empower you with tools to support those people in your life, and teach you how to sync your own lifestyle choices with the ebb and flow of your own hormones and with the cycles of the moon, if you so choose.

New Beginners’ Yoga with Tammi Ramos. This step-by-step class is a great way to get started. Tammi will guide the students in a progressive series, adding a little more each week, resulting in a great Introduction to Yoga postures and alignment. A safe and practical way to bring more balance into one's life. The four-week session meets at The Yoga Place for 5 Saturdays in a row. Please pre-register for all sessions for $50. Peace & Release with Danny - Last Sun of Each Month
Reiki is an energy transforming technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch. Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the flow and balance of your energy to support transformation.
Restorative Yoga, as the name suggests, is a style of yoga that helps “restore” the body to its parasympathetic nervous system function. In turn this helps the body rest, and restore balance. By allowing time for longer asanas (postures or poses) and deeper breathing, restorative yoga helps elicit the relaxation response.
These two practices combined makes for a peaceful and releasing experience. Everything will be provided but feel free to bring your favorite blanket or throw to cover up with and make sure to dress comfortably. $25

Yoga for Mental Health with MJ - Every Friday at 3:30pm
Mindfulness, meditation, yoga and reiki are often highly beneficial for mental health, to include anxiety and the trauma healing process, including diagnosed and undiagnosed PTSD and CPTSD (compound post-traumatic stress disorder). It is also often helpful for a wide variety of neurological disorders. Consistent yoga practice has been shown to reduce heightened states of mental and limbic stress in those with trauma and neurological distress. Over time, it has been shown to help aid in the healing of trauma. It can help calm and regulate the nervous system in those who experience seizures, Parkinson’s, and other neurological states of distress. There is an overlap in how yoga is used for trauma and neurological disorders. You are not required to have a PTSD, trauma-related, or neurological disorder diagnosis to take this class. Neurological health is beneficial to all! This class is friendly to those in wheelchairs and to multiple physical and mental situations. This class is not intended to diagnose or cure.
For this class, the term post-traumatic experience is used as the instructor does not think those with trauma and/or PTSD should be limited by calling them disordered. While it is not a pleasant experience to live with the aftermath of traumatic events, she believes that those with trauma PTSD are dealing with the body and brains survival response rather than some ugly thing that needs to be looked down upon or avoided. By not avoiding it and approaching it gently, healing can and does happen, although this class is not guaranteed to cure you.
Taught by USMC veteran Mianna Morrison, this class provides a safe, understanding, unlimiting, and unintrusive space designed to limit triggers and allow you to be fully yourself. Mianna struggled with CPTSD and seizures for many years. Yoga was and is an essential component of her healing journey, and she wants to share it with you. She received her certification in teaching post traumatic aware yoga in 2022.

Yoga for Gut Health with Sara - First Monday of Each Month
Allow yourself to enter into a peaceful setting, the smell of pure citrus essential oil bringing release to any worries you may have had. This gentle to moderate class will take your body (and mind) through poses that will aid in promoting a healthy gut. Class will conclude with a taste of organic kombucha as you will be ready to rest and digest and take on the upcoming day!

Qigong Stretch & Tone with Laura - Ongoing Series
Qigong (pronounced “chee gung”) is an ancient Chinese method of improving health and enhancing vitality. In this class we will use a variety of gentle exercises to gather, store, cleanse, strengthen and circulate vital energy (Qi). Gentle stretches and strength building movements are part of this practice. Release stress and increase energy as you coordinate breath with movement and intention.

T'ai Chi for Health & Relaxation with Laura - Ongoing Series
T'ai Chi Ch'uan is literally translated as “supreme ultimate boxing”. The “supreme ultimate” part refers to the Chinese concept of the origin of the universe. Out of the infinite potential of the void arises the dual principles of yin and yang. Yang being the male, warm, forceful, light principle, and Yin being the female, cool, yielding, dark principle. Neither one of these principles is superior to the other, and both are necessary because each contains some of the other. They are two sides of the same coin. The yin-yang symbol is also a symbol of T'ai Chi. T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a harmonious dance of yin and yang sometimes referred to as “meditation in motion”.
T’ai Chi was originally practiced as a martial art emphasizing strength and speed. Through time it has evolved into a gentle form of exercise that can be practiced by people of all ages. It consists of a sequence of movements that are performed slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth, even transitions.
