New To Yoga?
The best way to start yoga is with an experienced professional. At The Yoga Place & Yoga Central we have been introducing people to yoga for over 19 years and know the importance of progressing slowly, methodically, gently and with a lot of helpful professional guidance. We aim for an intelligent practice that is sustainable over the long term, for example, what yoga you do today should help you feel better tomorrow, otherwise something needs adjusting!
Make your concerns known to us. We want to help you feel comfortable and welcome. Please come about 10 or 15 minutes early to your first class so the teacher will have time to get you all set up.
At first, a lot of what we do might seem different, but that is on purpose. We don't come to yoga to do the same things we always do, but to explore something different.
Yoga is an opportunity for you to take care of yourself. We encourage you to modify and keep everything appropriate for your unique situation. Let your wisdom be greater than your ambition and don't force or push. The body responds really well to gentle stretching, but an intense stretch is usually counterproductive. Learning to be kind to yourself is a major step towards peace, harmony and balance.
Even if you are in excellent shape, please come to the gentle or moderate classes first to develop your alignment skills and your awareness before coming to the more advanced classes.

Yoga Central is the area's only registered 300 hr yoga school.
