Mike Curtis (E-RYT500) founded The Yoga Place in 1995, and it was among the first Yoga studios in Ohio. Mike has attended many yoga teacher trainings as a student, has supervised many yoga teacher trainings as a teacher, and has practiced yoga in many countries. In fact, he has trained many of the teachers who now own their own studios in the area and have gone on to train teachers themselves. He believes that yoga is an incredible tool for anyone’s spiritual journey, and that a regular yoga practice is an enormous asset in self development. For Mike, learning is one of the greatest excitements, and learning together is even better. He is also a gifted musician.

Rhonda Kuster (E-RYT500 has a deep passion for, and dedication to, the art of yoga. She began her yoga journey in 1997 and continues to study with many of the finest yoga teachers in the country. Some of her principal influences have been Rodney Yee, Richard Rosen, Doug Keller, Donna Farhi, Richard Freeman, Tias Little, Tim Miller, Laurie Blakeney, and Karen Allgire.

In 2011, she completed the first accelerated training in NY as an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist (UZIT) She teaches classes and workshops that integrate several modalities which include simple yoga movements, Reiki, essential oil therapy, breath awareness, restorative poses, and meditation. Rhonda is one of the Urban Zen Master Trainers for UZIT teacher trainings.

Rhonda took her first Sanskrit workshop in 1998 and fell in love with this beautiful language. She offers ‘Intro to Sanskrit' workshops which make it fun and accessible to learn proper pronunciation of yoga poses and various yoga terms such as the yamas and niyamas, as well as traditional yoga chants and yoga philosophy.

Kristie Comsia (RYT-500) Kristie blends her love for classical yoga and functional anatomy with a modern creative vision that goes far beyond the mat. Introduced to yoga at the age of four via her Mother and The Yoga Place, she’s spent decades practicing its principles. Kristie committed to the life of a full-time yoga professional after completing her degree in Education from Walsh University in 2011 and went on to study in Kripalu Methodology, Asheville Yoga Center, Shakti School of Ayurveda, Integrative Somatics, Mindfulness, Yoga for Youth and more. She is first and foremost a student and is currently training in Neurogenic Yoga and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE). As a mother, wife, friend and enthusiastic educarer, Kristie brings a practical, playful and wholly sincere approach to yoga teacher training.

The Requirements For The Course Are:

At Least One Year Of Experience With Yoga.

This is a very community-oriented studio and training program. We like to accept people who put a high value on learning, exploring, respect, and cooperation. This is not a program that only emphasizes the physical part of yoga—we offer a broader approach and a deeper education that shows how multi-faceted yoga really can be.

What to Expect During This Training:

Our 200-hour program meets one weekend a month, typically the 2nd weekends except in April and May where we will meet on the 3rd weekend. In addition to the regularly scheduled sessions on Fridays from 6-9pm and Sundays 8:30-4:30, some months include a Saturday 1-5:30pm session. These longer weekends will be in January, March, May, July, September, October and November.

There is a special full-weekend silent retreat in September, Practicum weekend is in October and Graduation Ceremony will be held in December.

Every gathering begins with yoga, pranayama and meditation. Friday nights include a movie or documentary, Saturday sessions cover special topics and Sundays will be a full day of practice, asana clinics, teaching, philosophy and anatomy.

Full attendance is required for completion of this program. A maximum of 15 hours can be made up with recorded sessions and a written essay reviewing the covered topics. Note that some sessions can not be made up with video access and will require special arrangements with the lead teachers.
