Explorations in Yoga Philosophy: Karma Yoga - Sun Dec 3
Yoga is a spiritual discipline, not a religion. Yoga can be practiced alongside ANY religion, or without any religion at all! Paisley Parvati Devi & Mianna Morrison invite you to join them for a quarterly exploration of the 4 primary philosophies of Yoga, and how they can be practically applied to our lives in a unique way!
Throughout the year, each workshop will be dedicated to exploring one of the following: Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Jñana Yoga (study), Raja Yoga (practice), and Karma Yoga (service). This class is the final installment in the series.
In December, we will explore Karma Yoga: the Yoga of action & selfless service. It goes hand in hand with Bhakti Yoga. Karma Yoga is intended to bring liberation through selfless devotion to the Divine in the form of all beings, which allows the practitioner to see beyond the illusion of separation (maya). A devotional attitude aims to ease the suffering of another as if it were our own, and embodies the golden rule, “treat others the way you would like to be treated.”
This offering is donation-based, with 15% of proceeds going to support a local charitable organization.
Please bring your favorite comfy cushions & blankets to sit on, a journal and pens, and tea if you'd like.
We will be at The Yoga Place on Wise Ave in North Canton from 10 - 11:30am on December 3rd, 2023!

Solstice for the Trees with Dianna Rhyan - Fri Dec 22
On the evening after the Winter Solstice, come to the circle for stories, to honor plant perspectives, ancient concepts of seasonal time, and the wisdom of trees. We may imagine entering a sacred arbor vitae grove, or remember a mythic cedar guardian. We might wonder about a shape-changing serpent of the forest, an oak who calls for justice, or a pair of trees who are deeply in love. Dianna Rhyan will share some words from her book Staff of Laurel, Staff of Ash: Sacred Landscapes in Ancient Nature Myth. In plant time, from forest and borderland, in ancient myths almost lost forever, nature will say things we no longer can. Donation based.

Plant-Soul and Human-Soul with Dianna Rhyan - Fri Feb 2
What is plant-soul? How does it relate to human-soul? Can we flourish together to re-enchant the world? From the dawn of time, myths have revered plant persons as sovereign spirits, protective divinities, and potent actors with fully embodied souls. We will explore their curious destinies at the dawn of ancient Greece, by listening to evocative voices in archaic psychology, philosophy, and poetry. By donation. Facilitated by Dianna Rhyan. https://www.staffoflaurel.com

T'ai Chi for Health & Relaxation - Ongoing Series
T'ai Chi Ch'uan is literally translated as “supreme ultimate boxing”. The “supreme ultimate” part refers to the Chinese concept of the origin of the universe. Out of the infinite potential of the void arises the dual principles of yin and yang. Yang being the male, warm, forceful, light principle, and Yin being the female, cool, yielding, dark principle. Neither one of these principles is superior to the other, and both are necessary because each contains some of the other. They are two sides of the same coin. The yin-yang symbol is also a symbol of T'ai Chi. T'ai Chi Ch'uan is a harmonious dance of yin and yang sometimes referred to as “meditation in motion”.
T’ai Chi was originally practiced as a martial art emphasizing strength and speed. Through time it has evolved into a gentle form of exercise that can be practiced by people of all ages. It consists of a sequence of movements that are performed slowly, softly and gracefully with smooth, even transitions.
This is a six week series with classes meeting once per week: The cost is $65 per person
